Job Description LOCATION WILL BE IN WINSTON SALEM NC Interrelationships: Frequent interaction with all Legal and Risk Management staff; senior leadership; department and unit directors; medical staff leadership; Novant physicians; outside defense counsel; insurance carriers, and staff.

Job Functions: Coordinates investigation and analysis of incidents and legal claims files against the physician and all Novant entities.

Supervises investigations related to Novant entities and physician practices.

Ensures timely reporting to appropriate individuals and insurance carriers of incidents.

Assists in defense of lawsuits by working with outside defense counsel and coordination of all personnel involved in litigation.

Interviews, coordinates and prepares all personnel and physicians involved in litigation.

Prepares and presents case information for presentation to the monthly Claims Committee meeting.

Based on identified claim trends, participates in analysis and development of recommendations for program changes.

Works with Corporate Director of Risk Management in evaluating monetary potential of claims and assists in setting reserves.

Evaluates data and identifies claim trends.

Communicates trends of concern to appropriate management personnel and works with regional risk managers.

Prepares presentations to Market and Physicians Claims Committees.

Additional Functions; Serves as a member of various Novant committees at the request of the Corporate Director of Risk Management.

Makes recommendations to Corporate Director of Claims Management for insurance needs based on loss data.

Reviews policies and procedures as requested and makes recommendations.

Works closely with the Corporate Director of Claims Management in identifying and communicating claim trends.

Undergraduate college degree required, MBA, Masters of Science in nursing allied health or MHA preferred.

Must have a valid P&C Insurance Adjusters license or obtain a NC P&C Adjusters license within 3 months of hire.

Strong verbal and written skills required.

Work experience: If a RN, hold current licensure as Registered Nurse.

Courses in conflict resolution, mediation, negotiation, statistical analysis, quality improvement, safety and health law desirable.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skill validation and competency testing.

File personal property tax returns for the first year of operations at each project.

Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with Company policies and procedures.
